Pre algebra averages
Introduction :
In mathematics, an average, central tendency of a data set is a measure of the "middle" or "expected" value of the data set.
Many different descriptive statistics can be chosen as a measurement of the central tendency of the data items. These include arithmetic mean, the median and the mode. Other statistical measures such as the standard deviation and the range are called measures of spread and describe how spread out the data is.

what is pre algebra average:
In pre algebra, averages are calculated "middle" value or rate of a set of numbers.
It is simple to calculate: add together all the elements and divide by how a lot of numbers there are and you will have the averages in pre algebra.
In pre algebra averages formula: (sum of number given (a))/(total number of given)
Example:
In pre algebra averages of 5, 2 and 10
Solution:
`(5+5+10)/(3)`
= `20/3`
= 6.66
Average is 6.66
Example of pre algebra averages:
Example 1:
In pre algebra, a class of 15 students took a science test. 8 students had an average (arithmetic mean) score of 80. The other students had a middling score of 60. What is the average score of the whole class?
Solution:
Step 1: To get the sum of weighted terms, increase each average by the number of students that had that average and then sum them up.
80 × 8 + 60 × 7 = 640+420 = 1060
Step 2: entirety number of terms = entirety number of students = 15
Step 3: Using the formula
Weighted Average=`(sum of weighted terms)/(Total number of terms)`
=`(1060)/(15)`
=70.66
Answer: The average score of the whole class is 70.66.
Example 2:
In pre algebra, Alex drove for 4 mins at a rate of 50 miles per hour and for 2 mins at 60 miles per hour. What was his average speed for the whole journey?
Solution:
Step 1: The formula for distance is
Distance = Rate × Time
Total distance = 50 × 4 + 60 × 2 = 320
Step 2: Total time = 4+2=6
Step 3: Using the formula
Average speed=`(Total Distance)/(Total Time)`
=`(320)/(6)`=`160/3` or 53.33
Answer: The average speed is 53.33 mins/hour.
